COMMUNITY ALERT SYSTEM
West Los Angeles Community Police Station
Dear West Los Angeles Community Member:
As a policing team effectively partnered with West Los Angeles business
people, residents and visitors in
2002, West Los Angeles Community Police Station employees reduced Part
I crime by 5.3%, fatal and
serious injury traffic collisions by 14.6%, and increased arrests by 3.2%.
Although the West Los Angeles
community experienced numerous demonstrations, marches and protests, these
activities were safely
managed without public disorder. Additionally, no West Los Angeles personnel
were involved in major
misconduct or significant civil litigation and no police officers were
seriously injured. Most importantly, our
community policing partnerships and problem solving efforts made a difference.
The West Los Angeles Community Police Station has created a Community
Alert System to address the fear and
incidence of crime and to enhance public safety. In partnership with the
West Los Angeles Community Police
Advisory Board, the Police and Community Together (PACT) and the West
Los Angeles Community Police
Station's Reserve Police Officers, an Email System is now available. The
system's purpose is to notify West Los
Angeles business people and residents of vital information concerning
criminal activity in their neighborhood. To
make West Los Angeles a safer community, your community policing partnership
is requested. Please consider
completing the back of this letter and asking others to also help us by
completing this form. Your address and
other information enables us to utilize our existing map boundaries so
that specific crime information affecting
your neighborhood can be forwarded. Your personal information will be
kept confidential and only used by the
Police Department for this database.
If you have questions or suggestions, please telephone Police Officer
Alex Rodriguez at (310) 575-8431 or myself
at (310) 575-8400. Thank you for your community policing contributions,
problem-solving efforts and for being
our public safety partner.
Very truly yours,
WILLIAM J BRATTON
