On Wednesday, September 17 a special detail was assigned to address the speeding motorcycle problem on Sunset Blvd. The assigned officers worked from 7:30 PM to 10:45 PM using a plain car equipped with radar to determine the actual speed,  and a motor officer and a patrol vehicle as chase vehicles. At approximately 9:38 PM fifteen motorcycles rode west on Sunset Blvd. The motorcycles were traveling within 5 mph of the posted speed limit and were not altered to make excessive noise.

The finding of the special detail was that the motorcycles were operating within the legal limits set by California law.

motorcycle, attempted to stab the victim's through victim's open

- Pacific Coast hwy/Sunset, 9/6/08 at 7:45 AM. The suspect (Male
Hispanic, 28/35 years, driving a black VW) and victim became involved in
a road rage incident. During the incident, the victim stopped his
vehicle in front of the suspect, got out of his car, and approached the
suspect. The suspect, sitting in his vehicle slashed the victim's arm

On 1/28/08 at approximately 1:50 AM, a suspect drove two victims into
the Palisades from the area near Silver Lake Blvd and Sunset Blvd. Upon
arrival in the Palisades the suspect stopped to get gas at
Swarthmore/Sunset. One victim exited the vehicle asking for help. The
other suspect was found deceased in the rear seat of the suspect's
vehicle. The suspect was arrested from murder. The suspect and the
victims did not live in the Palisades and the murder did not occur in
the Palisades.

There were an unusually large number of vehicle burglaries this period.
In a majority of the crimes property of value was left visible in the
vehicle. Because not everyone receives this report I encourage you to
share this information with your neighbors. If you see that your
neighbor is leaving valuables in his/her vehicle please remind them that
vehicle burglaries are the number one crime in the Palisades.

· 15200 Sunset Bl, 9/20/07 at 4 PM. The suspect (male black, black hair
brown eyes, 6'2”-6'3” 200/220 lbs 20 years old) pointed a gun a
victim and demanded money. The victim didn't have money so the suspect
took victim's cell phone (value $700.00). A second suspect (male NFD)
acted as lookout during the robbery. RD 823

· 16300 Pacific Coast Hwy, btwn 9/16/07 at 4 PM and 9/17/07 at 6 AM.
The suspect damaged a park bench with an unknown object.

suspect entered victim's home (under construction) by kicking through
a dry wall board. The suspect took various bottles of wine (value

· 14900 La Cumbre Dr, 9/8/07 btwn 12:30 AM and 6:50 AM. The suspect
entered victim's unlocked Chrysler and removed the garage door opener.
The suspect opened the garage door gaining access to the rest of
victim's home. The suspect took victim's television, laptop
computer, digital camera, cell phone, mp3, purse, and money (value

· 300 Bellino Dr, btwn 9/4/07 at 9 PM and 9/5/07 at 3:30 PM. The
suspect forced open the rear door window of victim's Pontiac and took

· 17800 Tramonto Dr, btwn 9/4/07 at 9 PM and 9/5/07 at 8:45 AM. The
suspect cut open the convertible top of victim's VW and took money, a
dvd player, golf clubs, and scissors (value $1413.00). The vehicle was

· 15500 Sunset, btwn 9/8/07 at 10 PM and 9/9/07 at 10 AM. The suspect
smashed the passenger door window of victim's Toyota and took two
laptop computers (value $4500.00). The vehicle was parked in a parking

· 16600 Cumbre Verde Ct, btwn 9/5/07 at 9:30 PM and 9/6/07 at 10 AM.
The suspect took victim's two unlocked BMW's from the driveway using
valet keys left in the glove box. RD 811

ROBBERY
· 200 West Channel, 9/3/07 at 3:40 PM. The suspects (Male Hispanic, 17
years old driving a white Lexus) approached the victim and demanded his
money. One suspect threatened the victim with a handgun threatening to
kill the victim. The victim did not give the suspects any money or
property and the suspects fled the area without further incident. RD 824

· Alma Real/Toyopa, 9/7/07 at 9:10 PM. The suspects (male white, 15/18
years old) approached the victim and began asking if he had any money.
Both suspects were wearing hooded jackets with bandanas over their
faces. One suspect pulled out a golf club and demanded victim's
property. The suspects took victim's money and fled the area (value
$32.00). RD 823

· 15100 Sunset, 9/3/07 btwn 1:30 PM and 8:30 PM. The suspect smashed
the rear window of victim's Toyota. The vehicle was parked in a

spray painted victim's wall.

ARREST
· Pacific Coast Hwy/Sunset, 9/4/07 at 7:14 PM. A suspect was arrested
for DUI after being involved in a traffic collision.

OTHER CRIMES
· Pacific Coast Hwy/Temescal Canyon, 9/1/07 btwn 3 PM and 6 PM. The
suspect removed victim's property from a backpack left unattended on
the beach. RD 871
· Pacific Coast Hwy/Sunset, 9/5/07 at 6:15 PM. The suspect followed
victim who was driving on PCH until she stopped at a gas station. The
suspect (male white, black hair 5'11” 140 lbs, 20 years old driving
a black 4 door car) exited his vehicle, approached the passenger side of
victim's vehicle, and reached through the window to take victim's
cell phone. RD 823
· 17300 Pacific Coast Hwy, 9/6/07 at 10 PM. Eight suspects ate at
victim's restaurant and then left the location without paying their
bill. RD 861
· Pacific Coast Hwy/West Channel Rd, 9/8/07 btwn 3 PM and 4 PM. The
suspect broke the lock securing victim's bicycle to a bike rack. The
suspect took the bicycle and fled the area. RD 872
